Assignment 4

These photo's by Vee Speers are dramatic open effect pictures. They show true colours of children and there naughty side.I has a main focal point on the children and the pale background gives the children hauntening faces. None of the children are smiling but just simply staring at the camera without any expressions. I think this gives the children shadows and its as if they are ghosts of the picture. They all have comparisons with the paleness and they all have a state of which they are ghosts. All the pictures have a main subject for example the top middle is in a bridesmaid dress and holding a set of dark roses. Also the bottom left is wearing what seems to be a ballerina dress, All these things represent an innocent and cute child who is happy. These pictures are going against the stereo typical matter by showing them scared and pale. It looks like all the life has been drained from them. The pictures are brightly lit and shows the paleness of the children and all the children have dark eyes and lips and this makes them look hauntening and creepy.

Depth of field

This photo is by Annie leibovitz and is an interpeted picture of the famous film the wizard of oz, this picture features Keira Knightle. It has a strong Depth of field and the composition makes sure you focus on Dorothy and the scarecrow. It has a small amount of contrast which shows the detail throughout the cornfield. The background of the picture becomes blurry and you lose sight of the famous yellow brick road, it shows how far she's travelled. The lighting is strong and gives the characters deep colour to their cheeks, as if they look like dolls. It seems like a hot summers day. The characters are emphasizing their movements and are acting very dramtically, for example dorothy is leaning back and is portraying a curious expression and the scarecrow seems relaxed and calm. The colours of the picture are vibrant and really catches your attention. The distance of the blue sky shows a real fairytale story with its brightness.

This picture is by Perou of Peaches Geldoff, it has a
light focal point and a shallow depth of field. It is an
innocent photo which is clearly shown by her wearing
micky mouse ears. The photo's lighting is dim and doesnt
show the background as a strong white but a dull and
almost greyish background.
I think perou was trying to portray her almost as if
she is a disney charactor because of her ruffled dress
and her blonde curled hair. i think this is a dramatic photo
but is shown with simplicity, it makes you want to know more
about Peaches Geldoff.

This photo is of Lilly Allen, i see this photo as if she is showing her personality. Its as if she wants to show her bubbly side to the world and as if she wants people to see her as an actual person and not just a celebrity.
This photos composition has a blank white background and has Lilly in the foreground making sure that the viewer is only looking at her.
the main focal point of this picture is probably her mouth, teeth and the lollipop. it shows different characteristics of her and made her look aggressive and nasty and doesnt include the love heart sunglasses and the lollipop.

Vee Speers photo.

This photo's composition is a pale creased background with the main focal point on the girl holding her dolls, the lighting is bright and adds a creepy feeling to the person viewng the photo because the child looks so pale and innocent that it gives you the chills.The dolls which the child are holding are hauntening and look as if they have been abused and not been treaten right, i think this gives the viewer the chills.

Analysis

This photo by John Hedgecoe is of Henry Moore in 1966, this photo strikes up on the screen when
you type in John Hedgecoe into google. It catches your attention as soon as it comes up on the screen,
it has a harsh contrast showing the features in a strong dark way. It makes the photo serious by having his hands facing the camera and showing the details in his hands, the hands he makes sculptures with. The photo has a sense of hardness but also once you look closely it has a delicate feel to it and you appreciate the photo more once you take a few looks at the photo.

First Analysis

This photo is by Annie Leibovitz, this photo is my favourite photo.
 Anna-Lou "Annie" Leibovitz is an American portrait photographer and is
62 years of age, i like her photos because she makes them dramatic
and deep in her own way, for example this photo has a calm setting
to it and it has a lot of emotion in it. the light seems bright behind the
subject so it seems this was taken in the late morning or early afternoon.
