Depth of field

This photo is by Annie leibovitz and is an interpeted picture of the famous film the wizard of oz, this picture features Keira Knightle. It has a strong Depth of field and the composition makes sure you focus on Dorothy and the scarecrow. It has a small amount of contrast which shows the detail throughout the cornfield. The background of the picture becomes blurry and you lose sight of the famous yellow brick road, it shows how far she's travelled. The lighting is strong and gives the characters deep colour to their cheeks, as if they look like dolls. It seems like a hot summers day. The characters are emphasizing their movements and are acting very dramtically, for example dorothy is leaning back and is portraying a curious expression and the scarecrow seems relaxed and calm. The colours of the picture are vibrant and really catches your attention. The distance of the blue sky shows a real fairytale story with its brightness.

  1. Autumn, This is a photo based on The Wizard of OZ, not a photo of the film. What is the photograph called? What exhibition is it from and when was it taken? What do you mean by a strong depth of field? Depth of field is either shallow/narrow or wide/deep. Does the background really get blurry? It looks quite sharp to me!
